Lakta is based at the Maison d'Entraide et de Ressources (M.E.R). Within this space, we have set up a studio — a calm, safe, and welcoming room where people can come to speak, record, and tell their story at their own pace, in their own words.

People are free to choose everything — the location of the recording, the format, the level of visibility. Whether they want to speak on camera, record audio only, remain anonymous, or simply talk without being recorded at all: the choice belongs entirely to them.

Once the content is recorded and consent confirmed, our team edits and produces the material. Short-form content is published on TikTok and Instagram — accessible, shareable, and designed to reach audiences beyond the traditional media landscape.

Longer and more in-depth content — documentaries, audio portraits, written investigations, and photo essays — is published regularly on our website. These pieces take more time to produce, and more time to read, watch, or listen to.

We also preserve raw recordings and longer material for future extended formats, always developed over time and always with the full agreement of the people involved.

Every recording, every name, every image, every piece of personal information entrusted to Lakta is treated with the highest level of care and security. We comply fully with the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and apply strict internal protocols to ensure that no data is ever shared, published, or used without the explicit, informed, and revocable consent of the person concerned.

Contributors retain full control over their story — at any point, for any reason, they can ask for their content to be modified, anonymised, or permanently deleted. No questions asked.

We are particularly aware of the specific risks faced by people in precarious legal situations. A face, a name, a location can have consequences — for an asylum claim, for personal safety, for family members still in danger. This awareness shapes every decision we make, from the moment a recording begins to the moment content is published.
